Job Description

Senior Insurance Technician

Support the Operations Manager and Underwriters with all aspects of technical and administrative support to help ensure workflow accuracy and efficiency. The role will require the individual to accurately source, collate and maintain data, including all aspects of risk information and processing, and aggregate entry.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities

·Advising and administering specialist technical processing matters, including insurance tax application

·Continued development, implementation and monitoring of contract certainty checks to ensure robust adherence and reporting of contract certainty misses

·Providing a central and dedicated technical administrative support as required for Underwriters Accurate processing of risk aggregate exposure information on designated systems, including bordereaux production, and resolving exception reports

·Liaising with brokers as required concerning the administration processes around the submission and acceptance of risk, and ensuring brokers provide all necessary data pre and post underwriting and through to final processing

·Recording of premium variance from written to signed

·Working to produce statistical and analytical reports

·Providing a contact for brokers if Underwriters are unavailable

·Conducting contract certainty checks and exception reporting

·Assisting credit control and finance functions with identification and resolution of accounting and aged debt queries

·Responsible for ensuring each binding authority is correctly recorded onto the processing system, including mid-term changes

·Ensuring risks (including line slip and tripartite agreements) are accurately recorded and maintained within the processing system within parameters and SLA’s as defined

·Comply with and help to update, where necessary, business process documentation

·Liaising with Xchanging and brokers to assist in premium signing queries

·Assisting in the development and technical education of junior Insurance Technicians

·Creating and maintaining underwriting files in accordance with relevant Underwriting Guidelines, including monitoring submission flow, declinations, quotes, new and renewal business

·Administration of documentation, including scanning, recording and filing for all risks

·Working with Operations and IT in the development and testing of designated systems to ensure data can be captured correctly and the required output reports are available

·Ad hoc duties consistent with the role

Required Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge, Experience

Qualifications:

Ideally educated to degree level, or equivalent, with strong GCSE, or equivalent, in maths 

Skills:

Enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a focus of providing the best possible service

Able to work effectively and collaboratively with others both internally and externally

High attention to detail in producing a quality output and able to maintain this when under pressure

Presentable, with excellent communication skills with confidence to ask questions to ensure job requirements and underwriting matters are understood

Ability to multi-task

Strong IT skills

Numerate

Ability to work to instruction

Able to work calmly under pressure within set timelines

Desire to find solutions to problems

Knowledge/Experience:

Proven track record in a similar role

Experience if Xchanging processes essential

Knowledge of Binding Authority Agreements advantageous

Knowledge of RiskWrite advantageous
